Glass and Glazing

All the glass that we use in our steel doors and screens is thermally toughened. Toughened glass – also known as tempered glass – is up to five times stronger than regular glass. This is achieved by heating regular glass at high temperatures (650°C) and then cooling very quickly. This process makes it tougher (hence the name) and up to 400% or 500% more resistant to heat and shock than ordinary glass.

Double glazing refers to a window that has two panes of glass. The main component of the window is the double-glazed sealed unit, also known as an insulated glass unit (IGU) which sits in a frame.

The IGU comprises two sheets of glass separated by a spacer bar to create an air gap which is filled with an insulating gas.  The primary benefit of double glazing is thermal insulation – to retain heat in a room whilst stopping cold air from entering from outside to make the room more energy-efficient.

Triple glazing is similar but just use 3 panes of glass

Lead Time and Delivery

Our current delivery is 8-12 weeks from ordering to delivery. This is an estimate and can fluctuate so please contact us at the time of your order for an up-to-date delivery timeline.

Yes, once your steel doors/screen has been ordered you’ll be updated with our manufacturing process and be provided with an early provisional installation date.

Installation

If you are ordering the doors as supply-only, we will send you a clear installation guide so you or your builder can install the doors without any problem. If you have any questions, you can call our friendly team and they will be happy to assist you over the phone.

Alternatively, we offer installation from our in-house installation team at an extra cost depending on your location. Our installation services are not nationwide and each enquiry is treated individually. If you are interested in a quote for installation, enquire with us at info@harrowford.co.uk

This depends as installation from project to project can vary, normally we’d expect an installation of a double door with a screen to take one full day. It would be worth checking with us and asking for an installation timing.

This would need to be surveyed by one of our team members. Additional work might need to be completed before the installation of a new steel screen. This depends on how the previous doors and screens were installed.
